That is certainly acceptable.
To be dependable they need to use the latest hardware available on the market. Outdated hardware has many problem when it comes to being dependable. If your cheap hosting company is using old hardware you are more apt to having your site hacked. However, no matter how secure they are, sites do still get hacked from time to time.
Customer Service
As mentioned above sites do get hacked and really there is nothing you can do about it but contact your hosting service to fix the problem. A good hosting provider will take care of the issue by removing the malware off you hosting space, and change your password for you. Good customer service can really save you a lot of worrying later on down the road.
Not to mention sometimes you just have questions that you need a person on the other end to aid you with. It is good that a hosting company will have a knowledgeable staff that can cater to any questions you might have. Most of the hosting companies these days offer 24/7 customer service.
