GoDaddy<\/b> is the biggest registrar on the market today. I am sure you have seen their famous GoDaddy commercials on the television. They have spent countless amounts on advertising. So you are probably wondering if they are any good, or not. In this article I am going to be talking about the ever so popular GoDaddy<\/i> company.<\/p>\n

What sets GoDaddy<\/a> apart from the typical web hosting providers is you can actually buy your domain with them. A lot of competing companies do not allow you to buy a domain with them. They are strictly just web hosting and that is that. But, GoDaddy<\/b> is much different in a sense, because you can buy your domain with them and even host it with them.<\/p>\n

Now, I do want to point out that you do not have to host your site with them if you do not want to. In fact, a lot of people just buy there domain with them and then host their site on Hostgater<\/b> or some other popular web hosting service. To do this you are going to have to switch over your DNS settings to a new hosting provider.<\/p>\n

This is not overly complicating, even a complete newbie can do it. Serious don’t be intimidated even if you are clueless on what a DNS is. For instance, if you bought a domain from GoDaddy<\/i> and wanted to use Hostgator as mentioned above you can easily do that by going to Hostgators<\/i> cPanel and copy and pasting the DNS information.<\/p>\n

You are then going to go back to GoDaddy and past that information in the correct spot. It is a really painless process and you don’t have to spend ours reading on how to make the switch. You can do it in a matter of minutes. If your real fast you can probably do it in under a minute.<\/p>\n

One reason, people use Hostgator for hosting is because they want to use cPanel and not GoDaddy’s Plesk, which for some is a bit of a hassle. Actually, I don’t mind Plesk, it just takes a bit of getting used to. Hostgator<\/a> does have world winning support so there is another reason to use Hostgator over GoDaddy for web hosting.<\/p>\n

GoDaddy does only offer Windows web hosting so that is another reason why people will tend to buy their web domain with GoDaddy and then host their domain with Hostgator. Hostgator<\/b> does allow you to use Linux based servers. I do prefer Linux because it seems a bit more secure and I would rather go with Linux, rather then setting myself up for a hassle, later on down the road. Whichever one you choose to use you should be happy with them both.<\/p>\n
