Fatcow: What Is All The Mooing Over?
I have read countless amounts on Fatcow and wanted to take the time and set the record straight on Fatcow. So I actually read a good consumer review on their service lately and it might really surprise you when people complain about their service. In fact, it is generally the users fault and Fatcow goes out of their way to help them. This was noted by a Fatcow employee.
For instance, there have been some issues with peoples sites being down, because they failed to pay their bill. They either didn’t have their service set to “auto-renew” or were using a credit card that was expired. In fact, I know that we have all been there and been upset. Well, when we are upset with something not going our way we are forced to call a customer service agent.
True, I would hate to be on the receiving end of a phone call where people are mad at me. However, Fatcow unlike a lot of companies is available to talk 24-7, which a lot of customers value a lot. In fact, if you can’t pick up the phone and call them you could always talk to them on their 24-7 live chat. They do not outsource their customer service work either to a third world country which is great.
Not to mention, a lot of the times you really don’t have to contact them on their live chat or toll free number, because they release bulletins when they are doing maintenance. I really do wish other hosting companies would take a page out of FatCow’s book, and update their service with frequent updates like FatCow does.
So with aside from having great communication, and a staff that is always available to answer questions, Fatcow has everything a good web hosting should have. The main, or one of the main attractions to FatCow is you can pay your hosting bill once a year. There is no need to set up an automated bill that comes out every month.
There were a couple complaints that people would sign up for their service and kind of felt it was deceptive. The reason they thought it was deceptive is because they used to charge for sub domains. However, this isn’t the case anymore. FatCow actually took the time to fight the struggles that previous customers were having. They now over everything as unlimited; this means unlimited bandwidth, unlimited space, POP mailbox, FTP accounts, and yes unlimited sub domains.
They do support everything you could possibly want from a hosting company such as, CGI, PHP, Python, Perl, Ruby, and MySQL. Better yet there is no setup fees and you can get instant activation, too. I have personally tried out there service and have transfered previous clients web hosting over to them, too.
